# Anaconda installation

I have tried to download anaconda on my MacBook Pro high sierra and I have followed numerous trouble shooting steps and to no avail. I get the message “Installation Failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.” Has anyone has this and what was the fix ?

Hello @wizdam.

1. Can you please confirm that you downloaded the correct installer for your system?

2. Check if you have a directory created at `/opt/anaconda3`. If so, delete it and try the installation again.

3. Did you have a chance to try [these troubleshooting steps](https://docs.anaconda.com/reference/troubleshooting/#the-installation-failed-message-when-running-a-pkg-installer-on-osx)?

4. If you continue to have problems with the .pkg “Graphical” installer, please try installing the “Command Line” installer instead (see docs [here](https://docs.anaconda.com/anaconda/install/mac-os/#command-line-install)).

Hi @Paul_Yim,

I downloaded the apple silicon for macbooks

I attempted redownloading again and still getting the same error message. I have also tried the graphic installer but I’m finding it hard to follow
