Hi there,

I would like to change the Jupyter notebook startup folder from “C:.…” to “E:.…”.

I have followed [this very detailled explanation](https://www.planetofbits.com/python/change-jupyter-notebook-startup-folder-anaconda/). And I have seen, that there is a similar question [here](https://forum.anaconda.com/t/changing-jupyter-notebook-directory/28636).

However, this method does not work in my case. I’ve done the following:

- Listenelement in Terminal: _ **jupyter notebook –-generate-config** _
- Listenelement open _ **jupyter\_notebook\_config.py** _ in text editor
- Listenelement change c.NotebookApp.notebook\_dir = ‘C:\Users\username\Desktop\myfolder’ (since E:.… not worked in a first try, I’ve tried this one as well).
- Listenelement close Anaconda, restart computer
- Listenelement open Jupyter: it’s still the same start folder as before.

What did I do wrong? I have also reinstalled Anaconda, but no change.

dear [Julia\_Lange](https://forum.anaconda.com/u/Julia_Lange)

Thank you for posting.

I’m the one who answered the first question. The reason is that if you are using MicroSoft OneDrive or google cloud, the generated “jupyter\_notebook\_config.py” will be migrated on the cloud server and will not be effective.

To solve that problem, “jupyter\_notebook\_config.py” needs to be fully synced with the remote.

How to do that is different for MicroSoft and Google, so please contact your vendor.

Regards, you.
