Change Default Terminal in Anaconda Navigator

I’m using macOS and I prefer iTerm to the default terminal. Is there a way to change so that when I select the “Open Terminal” option from the environment flyout menu, it opens iTerm instead of the default macOS terminal?

Yes, you can make iTerm open instead of the default macOS Terminal by changing the default terminal application in your system settings or configuring the app that handles the “Open Terminal” action. Many developers prefer iTerm because of its customization and workflow features. While that makes iTerm the default terminal, it does not change the behavior of Anaconda Navigator. And it is something I had already set (and perhaps should have mentioned in my post, although it was done so long ago I had forgotten).

And it seems this is a LLM generated response, similar to the other two posts I’ve found that you’ve made on these forums. And an spam attempt to get people to use a website that I for one have no intention of ever visiting..

Cheers.

Hey @Steve42,

I don’t believe there is a way of doing this today, and agree it’s annoying! Unfortunately it’s not something that is particularly easy for us to change so it’s unlikely to be done any time soon.

We’re actually just working out how to improve this experience in Anaconda Desktop. So I’m curious which tasks exactly it is that you switch to the Terminal to do? Is there anything that Navigator is missing that we could add to Desktop to make things simpler?

Thanks,
Jack Evans

p.s. promise I’m a real person, we try and keep on top of them in this forum but it’s not always easy to keep up!

Jack,

Thank you for the reply. I’m just starting to use Anaconda Navigator. I literally installed it yesterday.* And as I use iTerm on my Mac, I was just looking to see if I could change the default terminal.

As I just started using Anaconda, I don’t have any suggestions for you.

Thanks again,

SteveM

* I did install it briefly a while ago, for a work project that did not go forward. And subsequently uninstalled it.
