Anaconda updater crashes Navigator on on Mac OS Tahoe 26.3.1

New user here; was referred to Anaconda download by Colt Steele’s class for data analysis on Udemy which I purchased. Followed instructions and downloaded free Anaconda Distribution and installed it. Following the installation, I got a message that it was not the latest download and I should upgrade to Navigator 2.7.1, which I did. However, the installation did not complete and after quitting Navigator, the upgrade process did not complete and it told me that it had already force-quit Python. (I already have Python installed through Homebrew on my Mac, so I don’t know if there is a conflict with the Homebrew Python installation.)
After trying this for three times, I deleted Anaconda Navigator from Applications and came back to Download Anaconda Distribution | Anaconda to install again, but since I was signed in, it said that I had already installed Anaconda Navigator successfully, so it will not let me install it again. This means that I am stuck, and cannot do a new clean install of Navigator and cannot proceed on the Udemy course all because I cannot install the most current version of Navigator.
What can I do to get to get a version of Anaconda Navigator installed on my Mac (MacBook Air M3 with 16G RAM)?
