I am running Anaconda on a 2021 MacBook with M1 silicon, running Mac OS Tahoe 26.0.1.
I launched Anaconda Navigator as usual and received a notice strongly recommending I install a new update, to take me from 2.6.6 to 2.7.
I chose to do the upgrade, which proceeded but then hung with an “installing…” message for more than 15 minutes, after which I clicked on the Cancel button.
Unfortunately, when I tried to launch Anaconda Navigator, the application started to launch but then stopped and never opened a window. It was like the launch was terminated.
The version of Navigator was 2.7 even though the update process was aborted, leading me to believe that the updated application was only partially installed (it was also a small file, about 6mb).
So I tried restoring the old Navigator from my Time Machine backup. Same problem: the app seems to launch but then the launch is terminated.
Only when I did a complete Time Machine restore of the entire contents of the /opt/anaconda3 folder was I able to get 2.6.6 back up and running.
So my question is how will I upgrade to 2.7 or other future upgrades? Was I too impatient in aborting the upgrade at 15 minutes?
What other guidance can Mac users give me here?
Thanks,
Ken
